!This upcoming New Year’s Eve you don’t need to go out with a huge group of friends...

Dsc 2014 Nef

You can just spend quality time with your significant other and enjoy a date night where you also get to ring in a new decade. There are so many things to do in Denver for New Years, whether it’s dining, drinking or dancing, it can be kind of hard to choose what to do. That’s why we made a handy list of Denver New Year’s Eve events. Slip into something snazzy (you are starting the roaring ‘20s after all) and live it up on the town. Here are suggestions for things to do Denver New Year’s Eve:

1. Uncorked Kitchen New Year’s Eve Specialty Small Plates in the Wine Bar

We’re ringing in the new year with a specialty menu of small plates in our wine bar! You are invited to enjoy chef prepared small plates in the bar starting at 3pm on Tuesday, 12/31 and add on recommended wine pairings to perfectly enhance your experience. Not up for wine pairings? Purchase your favorite wine, beer, or cocktails to enjoy with your dishes. Reservations are highly recommended this time of year, and you can view our menu for the evening here and make your reservation here! Don't miss on out these fabulous offerings, available for one night only (Dec. 31st, 2019).

2. New Year's Eve Bash at Red Rocks Amphitheatre

This is a uniquely Colorado event where the famous Red Rocks serve as a stunning backdrop to New Year’s Eve fireworks. These large vertical formations create a mesmerizing venue in which the seating area has space for almost 10,000 people. On top of a spectacular firework show you’ll also get to see hear some incredible local bands, check out a laser show and eat an array of delicious foods. This one always sells out so make sure to get tickets in advance.

3. White Rose Gala

As we said earlier, this is the start of the 2020's so why not do it big like we did in the 1920's with sequins and style. The White Rose Gala will be a celebration Gatsby would have loved to attend, filled with champagne and performances. If you love to dress up, this is the event for you — think flapper dresses and feathers, suits and hats. For you and your date to have the most seamless evening possible, opt for the VIP experience where you won’t have to stand in line and can enjoy quieter balcony areas. Now you just have to find the perfect ‘20s outfit to ring in the 2020's. This is also a party with a purpose — some of the proceeds will go to the HUMANKINDness Project.

4. Nocturne Jazz

If you and your significant other love cocktails, then this is the New Year’s Eve party for you. Nocturne serves an extensive array of tipples, as well as champagne, and great eats. Pick from one of two seatings, one to start your night or one to ring in the new year. If you don’t want to splurge there’s also bar seating available for you. The Peter Olstad Quintet will accompany the night with music and this chic event is guaranteed to be memorable.

Char-Grilled Oysters

Serves 4 as an appetizer

24 oysters, freshly shucked (on the half shell)
4 sticks salted butter
2 bunches green onions, chopped fine
10 cloves fresh garlic, pureed
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper\
3 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped fine
3 tablespoons fresh oregano, chopped fine
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 oz white wine
8 oz Parmesan cheese, grated
1 loaf French bread

For the Sauce:

In a large sauté pan, add 2 sticks of butter and place over medium heat. Melt the butter and bring to a simmer. Add green onions, garlic, red pepper, thyme, oregano, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce. Cook for 2 minutes and add white wine. Stir ingredients continuously and cook until green onions are soft. Remove from heat and allow to cool for 3 minutes. In a large mixing bowl (before mixture is completely cool) combine the remaining butter with the sauce. Blend until butter is melted and folded into the sauce. Final product should have a creamy consistency.

For the Oysters:
Pre-heat grill to 350°. Once at 350°, place freshly shucked oyster on the half shell on the center of the grill. Once the water around the oyster begins to bubble and the oyster begins to rise, ladle 1 tablespoon of the butter garlic sauce on top of each oyster. Top with a dusting of cheese, and allow the cheese to melt. Serve immediately with warm French bread for dipping. Bon apetit!
