MIXOLOGY: 6 MUST MAKE FALL COCKTAILS

That first chill is in the air, the days have been steadily shrinking and the leaves are marching their way through yellow and red hues waiting to drop. That must mean it’s time to break out the cider and cook some hearty meals! It also means you’ll be looking for a warming night cap that appeals to your pumpkin spice cravings!

Fall Cocktails

We wanted to share our most favorite fall cocktails for you to enjoy all season long.

Recipes from Chef Logan Scheer

Whiskey Apple Sour

Bring out the whiskey! Each season has various types of liquors that seem to match, Amber libations is our go to this time of year. Nothing screams fall more than a barrel of apples. Their sweet nectar is paired with your favorite whiskey to make a show stopping and simple drink that can be enjoyed hot or cold.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Favorite Whiskey
  • 4 oz Apple Cider
  • 1 oz Lemon Juice
  • 2 Slices of Pickled Ginger
  • 1 Thin Slice of Apple for Garnish
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick for Garnish
  • * equipment needed is a shaker, strainer and jigger

Combine the first four ingredients in a shaker with ice, shake well and strain. Bonus points if you use a mason jar for glassware. Garnish with an apple slice and a cinnamon stick and enjoy. For a hot toddy skip the ice and shaker. Warm in the microwave the first four ingredients for 1.5 minutes, then garnish the same.

Pumpkin Martini

If you are more inclined towards the relief a martini brings at the end of a long workday never fear you can still have your pumpkin with your pinky out. This recipe has some special liquors involved so check the status of your cabinet before embarking.

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz Vanilla Vodka
  • .5 oz Pumpkin Spice Liquor
  • .25 oz Baileys Irish Cream
  • 1 oz Half and Half
  • Freshly Grated Nutmeg to Garnish

Combine the first four ingredients in a shaker with ice then strain into a chilled martini glass. With a microplane grate a piece of nutmeg over the surface of the martini to garnish.

Salted Caramel Apple

After you’ve finished bobbing for your apples, I think it’s a good idea to unwind by taking that apple and covering it with salted caramel and throwing in a dash of vodka for good measure. Try this fun cocktail on for size!

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz Vodka
  • .5 oz Sour Apple Pucker
  • .5 oz Caramel
  • 2 oz Apple Juice
  • Dash of Salt

First rim your glass. Pour out a small pool of caramel sauce and place your glass rim side down into it. Set aside to receive the cocktail shortly. Combine first four ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake well. Strain into your caramel rimmed tumbler. Serve immediately.

Boozy Pumpkin Malt

Occasionally mother nature will deliver to us one of those fall days that is warm enough for us to justify making use of all that ice cream left over from warmer months. Or maybe you are lucky enough to live in an area of the country that doesn’t experience drastic seasonal weather changes but would still like to jump onboard the fall bandwagon, this fall cocktail recipe does just that. If you are feeling real extra grab a couple of miniature pumpkins to carve out and use as glasses.

Ingredients:

  • 4 scoops vanilla ice cream
  • 1/4 cup canned pumpkin pure
  • 2 ½ ounces Vanilla Vodka
  • 2 Tblspns Malt Powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch nutmeg
  • Pinch ground ginger
  • Pinch cloves
  • Whipped cream to garnish
  • Cinnamon stick to garnish

Add all ingredients to a blender and blend! Pour into a hallowed out mini pumpkin, top with whipped cream and garnish with a cinnamon stick.

Apple Bourbon Bellini

Ingredients:

  • 3 Apples, Cored and cut into wedges
  • 1-2 tablespoons Water
  • 1 teaspoon Granulated Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon Juice
  • 6 ounces Apple Bourbon, Such as Red Stag
  • 1 bottle Prosecco, (You’ll have extra prosecco left for more drinks)

Put the apples into a blender or a food processor with the water, sugar and lemon juice. Blend until smooth and transfer to a small bowl. Place a heaping tablespoon of the apple puree into the bottom of each champagne flute. Add 1 ounce of apple bourbon per glass, then top with the prosecco and enjoy!
